The One Factor In Marketing That Determines Whether a Lead Lives Or Dies

If you don’t fix this, not even all the marketing in the world can save you

Small business owners, on this page you’ll see:

  • Your most powerful trust-building marketing asset and why it has the biggest impact on whether customers choose you (or your competitors).
  • Ignore this, and you could be wasting both your marketing budget and your time.
  • The simple automation that helps you build more trust, win more customers, and make your marketing dramatically more effective.

Imagine two local businesses.

Both have the same service, prices, and serve the same city.

Both drop the same amount of money in marketing.

And both do equally good work for their customers.

Yet, one is getting constantly booked.

And the other can barely get the phone to ring.

What’s the difference?

Is it their website?

Is it their online visibility?

Their ads?

Nope.

More often than not, it comes down to this 1 thing.

Who had more and better reviews ✨.

Reviews have one of the biggest impacts on whether a customer chooses you or another business.

Many people think the biggest factor is SEO, a great website, or running ads.

And while those things are incredibly important because they get your business in front of potential customers…

They’re usually not what makes the final decision.

In fact, research shows that Only 6% of consumers simply click the #1 search result.

The other 94% consider factors like reviews, review count, location, pricing, and business information before deciding.

That just goes to show there’s more to winning customers than simply being at the top of Google.

Yet, a lot of business owners spend all their time and money getting more traffic…

While overlooking what actually convinces that traffic to choose them.

As a result, they lose customers and waste a lot of money on marketing.

After reading every word on this page, you’ll understand why reviews are one, if not the most powerful thing you can focus on for marketing success.

I’ll also show you how a simple automation can take care of them for you forever.

Why Reviews Are the Most Important Marketing Asset You Can Have

Pull up Google and type in β€œ[your industry] near me”.

Look at all the business profiles that pop out.

What do you think is the first thing customers pay attention to?

What would be the first thing you’ll pay attention to?

If you’re like most people, it’s the review count and rating.

But even if reviews aren’t the first thing people notice when they find your business, they’re still something they’ll eventually check out.

Maybe it’s your website they look at first.

Maybe they saw y

Maybe they clicked on one of your ads.

Maybe a friend or family member recommended you.

It doesn’t matter.

Sooner or later, most people will look at your reviews before making a decision.

In fact, studies show that 97% of consumers read online reviews when researching local businesses.

Think about that.

If almost everyone checks your reviews before buying, that alone shows you just how important they are.

But check this out, people aren’t just taking a quick glance at the stars and then moving on.

They’re actually spending a good amount of time reading them.

How much time?

One BrightLocal study found that consumers spent around 14 minutes reading reviews before making a decision about a local business.

14 minutes!

This varies per industry, but the important point here is that people spent their precious time digging into reviews.

Research also showed they read around 10 reviews before feeling like they could trust the business.

And here is one last stat showing you just how important reviews are.

Research has found that 90% of people say they trust ratings and reviews as much as or more than recommendations from friends and family.

Think about that for a moment.

That means when someone sees a business with a ton of great reviews and starts reading what customers have to say, it can feel almost like having friends and family whispering in their ear:

“Yeah, these guys are good. You can trust them.”

And think about this.

You could have a better website than your competitors.

You could have spent hundreds of dollars getting people to click on your ads.

And you could even be ranking on top of Google.

But if your reviews don’t build enough trust, you still may not be the one they choose.

And yet, here’s another study to prove that.

A recent BrightLocal study found that when people research local businesses, 38% pay attention to the star rating and 37% pay attention to the number of reviews.

And only 6% simply choose the business sitting at the top of the search results.

Again, you could be doing so many things right.

But the number and quality of reviews can determine if a lead moves forward or not.

That could mean hundreds or even thousands of dollars in marketing wasted…

Or, if you don’t spend much on marketing, hundreds of hours of your own time and effort going down the drain.

That’s why I like to think of reviews as the bridge between two mountains:

Your marketing and the sale.

Your marketing gets people to the top of the first mountain.

But they still need enough trust to cross over and become a customer.

Your reviews are the bridge that gives them that confidence.

More Reviews = More $$

Once you get more reviews, it’s like using leverage to lift a heavy rock.

Suddenly, everything you’re already doing in marketing (or will do) starts working harder for you.

More people trust you.

More trust leads to more people choosing you.

And ultimately, more people choosing you means making more money πŸ’°.

One Harvard Business School study found that a one-star increase in Yelp ratings was associated with a 5% to 9% increase in revenue for independent restaurants.

Now, that study focused specifically on restaurants, but it shows just how much reviews can influence the bottom line.

And the more expensive the purchase, the more reviews seem to matter 🫰.

Northwestern found that displaying reviews increased purchase likelihood by 190% for lower-priced products and a whopping 380% for higher-priced products.

So, if you sell high ticket 🎟️ and you want more customers, you better be getting more reviews.

But check this out because it gets even better.

Reviews don’t just help people choose you.

They can also help people find you.

In fact, Google itself says that more reviews and positive ratings can help your local ranking.

That means getting more quality reviews can increase your chances of showing up when someone searches for businesses like yours nearby.

So more reviews don’t just mean more trust.

They can mean more visibility.

More visibility + more trust = the ultimate recipe for more $$$ πŸ€‘

It’s a win win.

What Customers Look For In Reviews

First, where should you be getting reviews?

For most local businesses, Google should be your #1 priority.

Why?

Because that’s where people are already searching for businesses like yours.

And when they find you, your reviews are right there, front and center.

If you’re not a local business, platforms like Facebook or even reviews directly on your website are good.

It also depends on your industry.

For example, Yelp is popular for restaurants, while Angi is commonly used for home services.

Trustpilot, G2, and other industry-specific review platforms can also be valuable.

The key is simple:

Build reviews where your customers are already looking for your type of business.

Ok, so what do people pay attention to when looking at your reviews?

They’re looking at things like:

  • How many reviews do you have?
  • Recency of reviews.
  • How many reviews do your competitors have?
  • What do your good reviews say?
  • What do your competitors’ reviews say?
  • Do you have any bad reviews?
  • What do your bad reviews say and did you ever respond to resolve the issue?
  • Do your competitors have any bad reviews and did they do anything to resolve them?

The three biggest things to focus on are simple: Make sure you have enough reviews compared to your competitors, that they’re recent, and that they’re detailed.

Nail those three, and you’ll give customers a strong reason to choose you.

Also notice how I keep mentioning your competitors.

That’s because people don’t just look at your reviews.

They’re looking at you, and all the other businesses they could hire instead.

By the way, reviews are relative.

You might look at your Google profile and think:

“I have a 4.8-star rating and 100 reviews. That’s pretty good.”

And it might be.

But then a potential customer sees your competitor sitting right next to you with the same 4.8-star rating…

And 400 reviews.

Suddenly, your 100 reviews don’t look nearly as impressive.

In fact, one study found that even when two products had the exact same star rating, 64% of consumers said they’d be more likely to buy the one with 1,000+ reviews over the one with only 100.

Same rating.

But the quantity made people feel like the safer choice.

What If My Competitors Have Way More Reviews Than Me?

According to BrightLocal’s 2026 consumer study, 74% of consumers only care about reviews written within the last three months.

And 44% specifically look for reviews posted within the last month.

So, as long as you’re getting high quality reviews now and getting them consistently, you should have a fighting chance even against competitors with many more reviews than you.

And by quality I mean reviews that are detailed.

How to Get More Reviews Without Ever Having to Ask Ever Again

The main reason most businesses don’t have more reviews ISN’T because they don’t ask.

It’s because asking consistently is much harder than it sounds.

Asking once is easy.

Asking every customer…

After every job…

Week after week…

That’s a hassle and eventually most businesses just stop.

Also keep in mind that many customers won’t leave a review the first time you ask.

They’ll say they will…

But then life gets busy.

And they forget or they just never get around to it.

Which means if you really want to maximize the amount of reviews you get, then you also need to follow up.

And that’s when asking for reviews starts becoming time-consuming, awkward, and overwhelming.

So, what to do?

Simple.

You automate it.

There are many automation tools you can use to do this.

The one I use is called highlevel.

What you do is simply create an automation with the tool that sends a review request after a customer’s job or service is marked as complete.

You can easily mark a job or service as complete right from your phone using the HighLevel mobile app.

The automation can be set up to send a review request for Google, Facebook, Yelp, and even other places like Yelp, BBB, Angi, etc

The request can be sent straight to their phone via text, email, or both.

(Text has higher response rate).

You can choose exactly what the message says, when it goes out, and how often it follows up if someone doesn’t leave a review the first time around.

For example:

A review request could automatically be sent by text, email, or both about 2 hours after the product or service is completed.

The message could say:

β€œHi [First Name]! Thanks again for choosing [Business Name]!

If you have a minute, we’d really appreciate a review about your experience.

If you’re not sure what to write, you can mention what we helped you with, how everything went, and what you liked most about working with us.

Here’s the link: [Review Link]

Thank you! We really appreciate it πŸ™β€

Then, if they don’t leave a review, the automation follows up 3 to 5 times over the next week or two, depending on how often you want to follow up.

Once they leave a review, the follow-ups stop.

Additional Benefit to Automating

Getting more reviews isn’t the only benefit of automating the process.

You also save a ton of time.

Think about everything you’d have to do manually.

Ask every customer for a review.

Send them the link.

Check if they actually left one.

Follow up if they didn’t.

Follow up again if they forgot.

And keep doing that for every single customer you serve.

That adds up fast.

With automation, the system handles all of that for you.

Automations can also give you more peace of mind because it’s one less thing you have to worry about for your business.

Once it’s automated, the problem is basically solved forever.

As long as you keep serving customers, the system keeps asking for reviews.

Day after day.

Month after month.

Year after year.

You don’t have to remember.

You don’t have to chase people down.

How Effective Are Automating Reviews?

In one case study, Lake Powell Paddleboards had only 11 Google reviews before implementing an automated review system.

After putting the system in place?

They grew to around 400 Google reviews.

That’s more than 36X as many reviews.

And it makes sense.

BrightLocal found that 83% of consumers who were asked to leave a review went on to leave one.

It’s all a matter of just being consistent in asking, which is why automations are like magic.

Let Techno Will Marketing Handle Your Automations

Don’t want to go through the hassle of paying + learning a new tool to do this for you?

Let me handle it!

The benefit of having me do it for you goes beyond simply automating your review requests.

I’ll also take care of a few extra things that can add to the overall success of your business.

I’ll beef up the automation so you can squeeze even more value out of every review and every happy customer.

Here’s what else I’ll make it do:

Automatically share your best reviews on social media.

I can set up the automation so your 5-star reviews can automatically be turned into social media posts and shared on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.

That means more people get to see the great things your customers are saying about your business.

It also helps keep your social media active without you having to constantly think of something to post.

And by consistently posting those reviews on your social media, you create even more opportunities for people to discover and reach out to your business.

Get better reviews, not just more reviews.

Most businesses focus on getting as many reviews as possible.

And that’s good.

But quality matters too.

Think about the difference between:

“Great company!”

And:

“They showed up on time, finished the job in two days, kept everything clean, and charged exactly what they quoted me.”

Which one would make you trust the business more?

Probably the second one.

Because it gives people specific reasons to trust you.

That’s why I also optimize the wording of the review request to encourage customers to share what you did, the problem you solved, and why they’d recommend you.

So you’re not just getting more reviews.

You’re getting reviews that actually help sell your business.

Automatically Respond to Reviews

Another thing I help with is responding to your Google and Facebook reviews automatically.

I’ll set up an AI bot that can automatically respond to your reviews for you.

That way, you’re not spending time manually replying to every single one and saving you more time

And there’s another benefit.

Responding to your reviews makes your business look more active, professional, and engaged.

When potential customers see that you actually take the time to respond and care about your customers, it can help build even more trust in your business.

Jumpstart Your Reviews Harvest

If you have a list of past customers who haven’t left you a review yet, we can reach out to them automatically.

All I need is a list of their names, phone numbers, and email addresses.

From there, we’ll send each customer a personalized review request, followed by a few friendly reminders if they don’t leave a review the first time.

This is one of the fastest ways to increase your review count because you’re reaching out to people who have already done business with you.

Depending on how many past customers you have, you could see your review count grow dramatically over the coming weeks and months.

Price

The price of my automation is $197/month with no setup fee.

Here’s what you’ll get:

  • Automatically review request: Never have to ask for a review again. With the click of a button, a polite and detailed review request is automatically sent to your customer, so you never have to worry about forgetting or awkwardly asking while you consistently build more reviews, trust, and potentially more revenue.
  • Automatically follow up: If someone doesn’t leave a review the first time around, the automation follows up every few days, up to five times. That way, people who simply forgot get another reminder, helping you squeeze more reviews out of your happy customers and ultimately build more trust and potentially make more money.
  • Turn your reviews into social media content. Your recent reviews can automatically be posted to social media, helping your business look active while constantly putting positive customer experiences in front of more people. That means more exposure, more trust, more credibility, and potentially more opportunities to win new customers.
  • Automatically respond to Google reviews. Responding to reviews makes your business look active and shows potential customers that you actually care about the people you serve. That helps build credibility and trust, which can lead to more opportunities and more customers.

To be able to get one of the most important aspects of your business taken care of forever, I’d say that’s one of the best investments you can ever make.

Is It Worth the Price?

Think about this for a second.

How much more could your business make if instead of having a handful of reviews…

You had a steady stream of fresh reviews coming in every month?

Reviews you didn’t have to remember to ask for or chase down

Reviews that made you look more trustworthy, established, and credible.

Reviews that made sure your marketing dollars and efforts did not end up going to waste on the final stages of a decision.

Now imagine that getting more reviews helped you bring in 5, 10, or even 30 more customers per month.

Depending on your industry and what each customer is worth, how much could that add to your revenue?

Would that be worth $197 per month?

That’s only about $6.50 a day, which is the price of a Starbucks latte, to incredibly boost business success.

If you’re ready to start automating your reviews, click the button below and schedule an appointment so we can talk.

The Guarantee

There is no reason you shouldn’t get more reviews if you’re getting customers, providing great service, and consistently asking through automation.

Give it at least a month.

You should start seeing your review count climb.

But if, for some reason, you don’t get enough reviews to significantly boost the trust and credibility of your business, I’ll give you your money back.

Stop Letting Reviews Pass You By…

Stop Letting Reviews Pass You By…

Here’s a tighter, more persuasive version:

Every happy customer who leaves without being asked is a missed review.

One missed review becomes ten. Ten become fifty. Fifty become hundreds.

And while you’re missing those reviews…

Your competitors are collecting them.

If your reviews don’t stack up against theirs, you’ll be marketing with one hand tied behind your back.
